La Ronda de Boltaña returns to the Auditorium of the University of Zaragoza

On Friday, 18 September 2026, at 7:00 p.m., La Ronda de Boltaña will offer a concert in the Central Courtyard of the Auditorium (Paraninfo) of the University of Zaragoza.

Founded in 1992 in Boltaña, La Ronda de Boltaña was born from the desire to revive the traditional ronda, a festive practice that had disappeared from local celebrations. On that Saint Paul’s Day, the streets once again filled with the sound of the gaita, the horn, accordions, guitars, small guitars, lutes and bandurrias. Jotas, mazurkas, polkas and pasodobles echoed through the town, restoring to the community a tradition that soon became a symbol of identity.

Since then, the group has become an essential reference of Aragonese folklore, transcending borders and generations. Their music is living memory of the Pyrenees and of Aragón, a bridge between what we were and what we continue to be.

With their characteristic blend of guitars, accordions, gaitas de boto, violins and dulzainas, La Ronda de Boltaña turns every performance into a collective celebration. Their jotas, songs and musical stories recover the essence of the Aragonese mountains and project it with a contagious energy that reaches both those who grew up with these melodies and those discovering them for the first time.

The ronda is, in itself, a village “in full celebration”: porrones and lamines, basil, full tables and open doors. A gesture of community and hope in a time of closed houses and people gone. Whoever walks with the ronda opens their door to everyone, and everyone opens theirs to them.

After more than thirty years of stories, mountains, struggles and joys, La Ronda de Boltaña remains true to its spirit: staying in Boltaña, their place of origin, and roaming —sometimes farther than expected— bringing their music wherever it is called for. Their “price” remains the same as always: chiretas, wine, celebration and friendship.

The concert at the Auditorium will be a unique opportunity to enjoy a group that not only performs music: they share it, celebrate it and turn it into a collective embrace. An evening to reconnect with tradition, emotion and the strength of a people who sing so as not to forget.

Admission will be free, with prior registration at eventos.unizar.es. Registration opens on 10 September at 10:00 a.m.
