Nacho del Río and Beatriz Bernad: 30 years together in the Jota

Nacho del Río, born in Calatayud in 1975, and Beatriz Bernad, a native of Lécera, are two of the foremost contemporary exponents of Aragonese Jota. Both trained under the master Jesús Gracia and have built distinguished individual careers, accumulating numerous awards in official competitions. Del Río combines his work as a performer with research and preservation of the genre, having served as Director of the Jota Sound Archive (Fonoteca de la Jota) since 2017. Bernad, for her part, complements her career as a singer with a dedication to teaching, founding her own school in 2013.

As an artistic duo, they met in 1995 and have since developed a solid collaboration spanning 30 years, becoming a vocal and instrumental reference. Together they have spearheaded fundamental recording projects such as La Jota, Yesterday and Today and stage productions that revisit and renew the tradition, combining respect for its roots with innovative staging and cross-genre collaborations. Their joint work has established them as key figures for the dissemination and evolution of this Aragonese cultural heritage.
