The Caranjainas of Guadalaviar

The caranjainas are mythological beings that inhabit the mountains of the Sierra de Albarracín. These strange characters usually hide in the corners of the firewoods, although sometimes they can be seen leaning out of the windows of the houses and even wandering the streets like lost souls.

The presence of the caranjainas in the oral tradition is abundant and has given rise to Guadalaviar, in full patronal celebrations, deciding to rescue their figure of the imaginary and to incorporate it to the list of festive protagonists of the locality, by means of a parade that will take place the day July 24, 2019, at 9:30 p.m., and that will feature the animation of the grup Lurte.
