The Fernando el Católico Institution of the Zaragoza Provincial Council hosts a course on the work of these three folklorists, Alan Lomax, Marius Schneider and Arcadio de Larrea, whose reearch covered the traditional folklore of Aragon in its entirety, but which was ignored or distorted during the dictatorship for indoctrination purposes, resulting in the deep ignorance that still exists today in Aragon about our authentic folklore and traditions.
Four experts in the field of folklorism will speak on this topic: Manuela Adamo (historian, Master in Contemporary History from the University of Zaragoza), Vincenzo Santoro (writer and scholar of popular culture), Ascensión Mazuela (coordinator of the University Master in Musical Heritage of the University of Granada) and Mario Gros (luthier, musician and folklorist). The course, directed by Manuela Adamo, will be taught on November 19 and 20, 2024 and will discuss the work that these three folklorists carried out in Spain in the middle of the last century, their contents and work methodology, as well as the importance that this work has had in the reconstruction of the map of Spanish traditions and the great unknowns that still remain to be resolved, particularly in the field of traditional folklore of Aragon.
