Women of jota 2019

The Women of jota (Mujeres de Jota) award was instituted by the Aragonese Center of the Port of Sagunto in order to recognize the artistic, teaching and human career of outstanding women in the world of jota. In each of its 12 editions this award has been granted to a jota woman singer of sufficient renown throughout Aragón and another one linked to the Aragonese Center of the Port of Sagunto.

In the 2019 edition, the prize will go to Teresa Pomar Peribáñez, for Aragón, and Marisol Álvarez Fernández, for the Aragonese Center of Puerto de Sagunto.

The awards ceremony takes place on the weekend closest to March 8, International Women’s Day. On this occasion, the appointment will be on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 6:00 pm, at the Aragonese Center of the Port of Sagunto. The cast of artists invited to the award ceremony is first class: Nacho del Río, Lorena Larrea, Toño Julve, Ismael López, Susana Gil, Víctor Bajo, Ana Domínguez, Juanjo Almarza and Víctor Martín are the names of the singers, musicians and dancers who will accompany Teresa and Marisol on stage along with the Grup of Jotas of the Aragonese Center.

As a complement to the tribute on the 9th, a conference was scheduled, given by César Rubio Belmonte, with the topic La jota en voz femenina: sus mujeres protagonistas en los albores del S. XX, on March 6 at 7:30 pm, and a creative writing workshop, with the topic Microrrelatos en forma de copla: mujer, Aragón y copla, by Toño Julve Marín, on March 9 at 12:30.
