Presentation of the project “Procesión de aldea. Historia de un gaitero”

On February 26th at 7:00 PM, the Banda de Gaitas de Boto Aragonesas invites you to discover Procesión de aldea. Historia de un gaitero, a cultural project born from a fascination with a moment captured by Goya in 1787: a small village gathering and, within it, the anonymous figure of the piper. The Aula of the Institución Fernando el Católico (DPZ) will be the setting for this grand unveiling, which aims to restore sound and voice to that silent musician on the canvas.

The presentation will feature remarks from Charo Lázaro, Deputy for Culture of the Provincial Council of Zaragoza; José Ignacio Calvo, Director of the Research and Documentation Center of the Fundación Goya en Aragón; Pedro Mir, a leading figure in the recovery of the gaita de boto; Jesús López Báguena, author of the story, composer of the musical work, and director of the BGBA; and Alberto Clavería, a piper from Pastriz and member of the group.

With the support of the Diputación Provincial de Zaragoza, the project weaves an interdisciplinary narrative that combines literature, music, illustration, and audiovisual creation. The story, written by López Báguena, finds its visual soul in the contemporary perspective of illustrator José Luis Cano, while the creative and audiovisual team has masterfully assembled the pieces of this very personal project.

The event on the 26th will not be a conventional presentation. It will be a lively gathering, where bagpipes will sound, images will be projected, academic reflection will be shared, and, of course, a traditional dance will be performed. A small collective celebration of Aragonese culture, looking Goya straight in the eye.

We look forward to seeing you on February 26th at 7:00 PM at the Aula de la Institución Fernando el Católico (Calle 5 de Marzo, DPZ, Zaragoza). Admission is free until seating capacity is reached.
